There are indications that the reported investigation of former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has also extended to his successor, Babatunde Fashola.

A letter sighted by Plus TV Africa and dated 6th November 2020, shows that the anti-graft agency had written to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, requesting detailed information on the former Lagos State Governor and his successor, Fashola who is currently serving his second term as Minister of Works and Housing.

Findings by Plus TV Africa indicate that Fashola is being probed by the EFCC on allegations of false assets declaration and involvement with a former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler who is under investigation by the EFCC.

Fashola is said to have been interrogated by the Commission late last year on allegations of connivance with Fowler to steal public funds during his time as Head of the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service and the FIRS.

The EFCC has neither denied or admitted these reports.

The move which commenced before the assumption of office of the new EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is seen by some as defining moment on his nascent leadership and whether it will be able to step on toes irrespective of the political affiliation of those involved.
