Petrol Stations Adjust Price In Abakaliki Moments After FG’s Purported New Template

Petrol stations and vendors in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, South-East Nigeria have instantly adjusted their pump prices, moments after the Federal Government’s purported release of a new price template for premium motor spirit otherwise known as petrol.

Reporters visited some of the filling stations within the Abakaliki metropolis and observed that the petrol product is now selling at 210 Naira per litre, as against between 165 to 175 Naira, it sold previously.

Only the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega station on the Abakaliki – Enugu highway was dispensing products at the old price of N162 Naira per litre.

Reacting to the development, some motorists said there was no the justification for the fuel price increase as it would only worsen the hardship in the country.

The commuters want the Federal Government to reconsider the recent fuel price policy in view of the ripple effect it would have on other commodities especially basic food items, transportation, and other services.
