Kano receives 209, 520 doses of covid-19 vaccine

Two hundred and nine thousand, five hundred and twenty doses of Covid-19 vaccines arrived in Kano in the first phase of vaccination against the pandemic.

The vaccination will focus on frontline health workers, according to officials of the state Ministry of Health.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje received the vaccines at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport last night.

Receiving the vaccines on behalf of Governor Ganduje, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aminu Tsanyawa, said the state government has already started meeting with all the stakeholders across the state to ensure Kano residents are well sensitized on the need to accept the Covid-19 vaccines.

The state Coordinator, Covid-19 Rapid Response Team, Dr. Tijjani Husseini, said 509 health facilities have been designated as vaccination centers.

Consignments for Jigawa and Yobe states also arrived at the airport for onward delivery.
