Kano High Court Has dismissed a preliminary Objection, filed by Jaafar Jaafar Publisher of an online medium ‘Daily Nigerian’, to a motion on notice in which Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, is seeking to amend his statement of claims demanding three billion naira as damages caused by bribery allegation in videos showing the governor receiving money in US dollars.
The court granted leave to the governor to amend his processes and bring additional witnesses.
Jaafar Jaafar had on 25th January 2021 filed an objection to the appearance of Offiong Offiong SAN as lead counsel replacing Nurudeen Ayagi for the plaintiff in the matter arguing that leave of the court ought to be granted first thereby rendering the process in breach of the court process and therefore incompetent.
Justice Suleiman Namalam, however, held that Nurudeen Ayagi did not withdraw his appearance ruling that what occurred is that the plaintiff adds a new counsel as his rights to legal representation dictate.
Consequently, the Judge dismissed the preliminary Objection and granted leave to Governor Ganduje to amend his processes
The matter is adjourned to April 20 further mention of the substantive case.
