The United States has confirmed that it has frozen the Myanmar funds at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York after an attempt was made by the military to withdraw $1 billion from the account.

The transaction was first blocked by Fed safeguards on the 4th of February by government officials before it was decisively blocked indefinitely by the U.S President, Joe Biden.

A coup has been ongoing in Myanmar after the military forcefully removed the defacto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi from office who was rightfully elected in November.

Since then, a protest broke out in the nation and the military have been very forceful with the protesting citizens. As of yesterday, 50 persons were reported dead since the anti-coup protests begun. Despite it all, the citizens head back to the street to protest for the release and reinstatement of Aun San Suu Kyi
