Everything you need to know about Cervical Cancer!

Cervical cancer occurs when abnormal cells grow rapidly at the cervix of a woman and if left unattended to could lead to death in the worst case scenario. It most times, 80% of the time extends from an initial Human Papilloma Virus type 16 or 18.

Dr Chioma in this interview advises women to make it a habit to get screened every three to five years, there are several types of screening methods such as the pap smear, the abdominal lumpture sound and the HPV screening.

High risk factors that result in cervical cancer include smoking, multiple sexual partners (directly or indirectly), your nutrition and genetics. If any member of your family has had any form of cancer then you are at a higher risk of cervical cancer as well.
