Ebonyi govt. maps out strategies to ensure utilization of covid-19 vaccines

Ebonyi State Government, southeast Nigeria has released what it says is its mapped out strategies that will ensure proper utilization of her own share of Covid-19 vaccines.

This is coming after official reports claimed the first batch of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines arrived in the country.

Commissioner for Health in Ebonyi State, Dan Umezurike, who spoke to reporters in Abakaliki, hinted that in view of the imminent limited supply of the vaccines, the state would accord priority to her frontline health workers and the elderly ones.

Umezurike explains that the reason for prioritising the two groups is due to their high level of vulnerability to the pandemic.

It was, however, observed from amongst some residents of the state, a level of ignorance as it relates to the Covid-19 vaccines.

Ebonyi State with over 2.5 million population figures, is currently occupying the second position of states with the highest number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the southeast geopolitical zone, according to the latest statistics by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
