Myanmar’s state television has reported that its United Nations Ambassador, Kyaw Moe Tun has been relieved of his duties a day after begging the United Nations to use any means necessary to upturn the coup that has taken the nation by storm.
The news was diseminated y local media, MRTV which quoted in part that the now-former Ambassador abused the power and responsibilities of a permanent ambassador. See below:
“Myanmar’s Permanent Ambassador, U Kyaw Moe Tun, doesn’t follow the country’s order and instructions, betrays the country and works and helps the illegal group which does not represent the government. He had abused the power and responsibilities of a permanent ambassador, so he has been fired starting from February 27 morning, according to Civil Service rules and regulations.”
Myammar has been in a state of turmoil since February 1 after the Democratically elected president, Aung San Suu Kyi was forcefully removed by military forces and locked up, as well as her party members, the National League for Democracy.
Her detention has sparked a series of protest across the nation by civilians who are calling for not just her release but her reinstatement.
She has hitherto been denied access to her lawyers and is facing crimes of fraud
