IGP deploys land, aerial reinforcement to rescue 317 Jangebe schoolgirls

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has deployed land and aerial reinforcement to Zamfara State, to ensure the safe rescue of the 317 students of the Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, who were abducted by bandits last Friday.

The Police High Command also deployed two surveillance helicopters and police special forces to search for the abducted schoolgirls.

The Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, is leading the operation in the bush, where the abducted schoolgirls were believed to have been taken to.

SP Mohammed Shehu told reporters that the two police surveillance helicopters deployed to Zamfara State for the search operation have since commenced operation, and are awaiting a signal from the Head of the operation, to take off for the second day of the search.

The police called on the public to cooperate and support the efforts of the security operatives with credible intelligence, to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted schoolgirls.
