Ganduje shuts down 10 boarding schools in Kano

Kano State Government has shut down 10 boarding schools in the state following increased cases of abduction of school pupils in recent times, with the abduction of 300 students at Jangebe being the latest.

The recent abduction of students includes students from the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Jangebe in Zamfara State, who are still in captivity and the students of Government Secondary School Kankara in Katsina State who were later released.

Kano State Commissioner for Education, Sunusi Kiru, announced the closure in an audio message released in the state on Friday.

The Commissioner directed parents to evacuate their children from boarding schools across the state. The boarding schools include Unity College Karaye, Government Girls’ Secondary Jogana, Government Girls’ Secondary School Gezawa, Government Girls Arabic School Albasu, and Government Secondary School Sumaila.

Others are Government Secondary School, Kafin Mai Yaki, Maitama Sule Secondary School, Gaya, Government Secondary School Ajingi, Government Girls’ Secondary School Kachako, and Government Girls’ Secondary School Kunchi.
