Ghana has received the first shipment of its Covax vaccines from Mumbai, India. The WHO and UNICEF have confirmed the news in a joint statement.
This will make Ghana the first country to receive the COVID-19 vaccines from Covax. Ghana has disclosed that frontline workers will be the first to receive the vaccines.
As of Date, the total number of infections stand at 80,759 and 582 deaths have been recorded in the west african country.
The Covax vaccine was launched in April by the WHO and European Commission in conjunction with the Gavi; the Vaccine Alliance; last year, to ensure that vaccines, diagnostics and treatments are available to all countries regardless of their economic status.
