As seven- man accreditation panel have been appointed to look into the lingering cases of accreditation faced by the Bayelsa State -owned higher institutions of learning.
Governor Douye Diri at a meeting with heads of tertiary institutions in the state, Monday in Government house Yenagoa, said the move was to safeguard the future of students and graduates of the affected institutions.
The last two weeks have seen Governor Diri wade into problems plaguing the state-owned tertiary institutions.
First was the meeting with the union bodies bothering on welfare.
However, the meeting with the heads and registrar of higher institutions of learning was on the ground of lack of accreditation of programmes and some institutions to avoid being hit by the hammer of regulatory bodies.
With premium placed on education by the Diri’s administration, the Governor expressed willingness to see all lingering issues addressed soon.
The Konbowei Benson’s led committee was therefore given two weeks to get its findings and report back on the way forward.
