The Conference of Civil Society Organizations has called on Nigerians to support the nomination of ex-service chiefs as non-career ambassadors, stating that their nomination offers them the opportunity to contribute to the fight against insurgency in Nigeria and in third world countries.
Chairperson of the group, Adams Otakwu, speaking during a press conference in Abuja, said that condemning the nomination by some Nigerians on the ground that it will shield them from investigation places an unnecessary burden on the diplomatic initiative of the government.
Otakwu said that their nomination will also expose the ex-service chiefs to international diplomacy, political engagement with global institutions of government in order to galvanize support for national security.
