Rights Activists give Herders 2 weeks Ultimatum to vacate Edo Farmlands

Some human rights activists in Edo state under the aegis of Talakawa parliament have given Fulani herdsmen in the state two weeks Ultimatum to vacate farmlands in the state or face stiff resistance.

The group who disclosed this during a press conference in Benin city this Wednesday also gave the commissioner of police in the state seventy-two hours ultimatum to arrest the herders responsible for the killing of farmers in Ugo village in Orhionmwon local government area and other parts of the state.

Following the recent attack on farmers in Ugo village in Orhionmwon local government area of Edo state by herdsmen where some of the farmers were said to have been killed in the act, the human rights activists led by kola Edokpaye said Edo people can no longer fold their hands and allowed foreigners take their farmlands forcefully and kill it’s citizens gruesomely

The group also gave the herdsmen two weeks Ultimatum to vacate farmlands in Edo state.

Roland Asoro is the deputy speaker of the Edo state house of assembly and also the member representing Orhionmwon constituency where the herdsmen attack took place, he also drew the attention of the legislative house of the attack by the rampaging herders in his locality.

The activists, therefore, called on traditional rulers and all stakeholders to join hands in the fight against the threat posed by herders in the state.
