After much persuasion due to the rising insecurity within the country, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has relinquished all the Service Chiefs of their duties and replaced them with immediate effect.
This development was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
The affected service chiefs include General Abayomi Olonisakin (Chief of Defence Staff) who will be replaced by Major-General Leo Irabor; Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (Chief of Army Staff) to be duly replaced by Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo; and Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff) duly replaced by Major General I. Attahiru; and Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff) who will be replaced by Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao.
The president, however, thanked the outgoing service Chiefs for their overwhelming achievements during their service period and wished them well in future endeavors.
