The Ondo State government has finally reached a resolution with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) after an intervention of the Nigeria Governors Forum.
A widespread sentiment was generated after the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu gave a 7-day ultimatum for herders to vacate the forest reserves due to rising insecurity within the state, which was misconstrued to mean that the herders were to exit the state.

As jointly agreed, the Ondo State government will now actively register herdsmen in the state and also that free range grazing should be discontinued to prevent fights between herders and farmers. This is as confirmed by the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo.
Reports indicate that the herders already began evacuating the forest reserves following the governor’s orders.
