A High Court in Malawi has ordered that all bank accounts of former Malawian President, Peter Mutharika and his wife, Gertrude should remain frozen.
This follows an ongoing trial that accused the former president of benefitting from $6.6 million worth of a cement scandal filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, ACB.
Mutharika has denied all wrongdoing and applied for access to his accounts in a bid to pay for his legal fees among other things.
His appeal was dismissed on grounds that it was not valid. The ACB has secured a restraining order to prevent Mutharika from accessing his bank accounts still.
