Police in Kano on Wednesday paraded a 4-man kidnapping gang led by a woman, Maryam Muhammad, 23, a resident of Gusau, Zamfara state capital.
Police public relations officer. DSP Abdullahi Haruna told reporters that the gang kidnapped the son of one Ado Sanusi on January 12 and demanded a ransom of 10 million Naira to be paid in the state.
Luck evaded them, however, police arrested members of the gang that include Sani Ibrahim 39, Shamsu Suleman 29, all from Gusau as well as Ishaq Khalil 28, their alleged kano collaborator.
An Ak47 rifle and ammunition were recovered from them. According to the police, the leader of the gang, Maryam rented an apartment at Jabba quarters in Ungogo local government at the rate of 600, 000 naira and used as a hideout of victims of kidnap.
Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had reportedly ordered the demolition of the apartment.
