Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has given a charge to the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Philip Ogbadu to ensure that the state is free of criminal elements and to work closely with the state government to provide adequate security for residents.

The Governor who gave this charge when the Commissioner of Police paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Benin City also expressed dismay that no reasonable progress has been made in the investigation into the jailbreaks which occurred when the EndSARS protests were hijacked in Benin City.

There is a new Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Philip Aliyu Ogbadu.

In a statement issued on Monday, Philip Ogbadu was in Government House, Benin City to introduce himself to the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Godwin Obaseki. He promised to deliver quality service to the state.

Receiving him, Governor Obaseki insisted that it will no longer be business as usual.
He said the Police is expected to work with the State Government to ensure that the state was free of criminal elements.

The Governor decried the seemingly slow progress recorded by the State Command in the resolution of high profile crimes committed in recent times.

He was particular about the jailbreaks which occurred when the EndSARS protests were hijacked and the recent situation where inmates allegedly walked out on the Police Command Headquarters.

He goes further to tell the Police Boss to ensure that the presence of the Security Agency is felt across the state.

Obaseki insisted that security is a collaborative effort and the State Government will be working closely with the Police Force henceforth.
