Stakeholders in the automatic industry have decried the Federal Government’s action in reviewing tariffs for the importation of vehicles into the country.
The National Automotive Manufacturing Association, NAMA, Airspace Management Agency, and the Peugeot Automobile Nigeria, addressing reporters in Abuja said the effect of the review is likely to cause a collapse of the industry in the country thereby positioning other West African countries as the new hub.
The Chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria, Ahmed Aliyu, said the Minister of Finance was misled with wrong statistics about the automobile industry which got the Federal Executive Council’s approval for a tariff.
Aliyu, however, called on the Federal Government to reverse its decision in the interest of the nation’s economy despite signing the 2020 Finance Bill.
