The American Association for Cancer Research has revealed in a recent study that there is a direct correlation between taking oral contraceptives and the prevalence of breast cancer, especially after a stopped usage of the drugs.
Based on an analysis between 2006 and 2010 and 2019 showed a minimal risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer due to oral contraceptives, however, long term use of the contraceptives showed that 6.9 per cent of the 256,661 in the study group were diagnosed with breast cancer as opposed to a miniature 0.8 per cent for endometrial and ovarian cancers.
The trend which has been deemed inconclusive is expected to shed more light on drug development of cancer prevention and in the manufacture of new types of contraceptives.
