Lisa Montgomery was executed earlier today in a federal execution that will go down in history as the first for a woman in over 70 years in the United States. Montgomery was sentenced to death for the murder of a pregnant woman and the abduction of an unborn child she claimed as hers.

Despite many attempts to stop her execution such as mental illness, complex trauma, and neurological impairment, the 52-year-old lady was pronounced dead by 1:31 AM this morning at the Terrae Haute, Indiana prison complex after a lethal injection execution.

Her lawyers had argued that due to her horrific past of sexual and physical abuse by her parents for a more lenient option such as life imprisonment but failed to convince the Jury.

Montgomery had reportedly killed Bobbie Jo Stinnett by strangling her and cutting her abdomen open, only to take the foetus as hers. The child which survived fortunately only just turned 16 years, since the gruesome murder of her mother.
