Former Algerian PM, Ahmed Ouyahia confesses to Corruption Crimes

Former Algerian Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia is currently facing trial on charges of corruption and misappropriation of public funds.

The former leader confessed before an Appeal Court that a total of 700 million dinars deposited in his account were proceeds from the sale of gold bars sold in the black market, and gotten through less than pristine means.

Furthermore, he did not declare his earnings to the tax authorities.

Ouyahia along with some other top serving officials in Bouteflika’s administration are now facing multiple charges ranging from corruption to misappropriation of funds.

Ouyahia is also currently warped in another scandal involving a car assembly group.
