₦30000 Minimum Wage: No Intimidation can stop us - Protesters

The over one month protest embarked upon by local government employees in Plateau State has taken a new turn. The state government has resorted to the use of security operatives to break and disperse the protesters.

The protesters gathered at the state Secretariat daily, demanding the payment of their thirty thousand Naira minimum wage.

Some of the members have expressed displeasure over the government’s action, describing it as barbaric, saying that they are harmless workers, asking for their rights.

For the local government employees in Plateau State, the fight for their thirty thousand Naira minimum wage continues, as no amount of intimidation will stop them from pressing home their demands.

They wondered why the state governor is shying away from implementing an agreement reached in January 2020.

Just when reporters were about to leave the Jos Township Primary School, where some of the teachers had gathered, a long convoy of vehicles conveying security personnel arrived.

In a separate development, workers of the Plateau State Hill Station Hotel, have also embarked on a peaceful protest, demanding that government pay them their thirty months outstanding salaries.

They said many of their retired colleagues have died, and call on the government to intervene, as efforts to peacefully address the situation have failed.
