The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami has issued new guidelines for obtaining new or recovering missing Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Cards.
For individuals with lingering issues with lost or stolen SIM cards and linking those cards with NIN. A new SIM Replacement Policy has been set up with the following criteria.
The individual must provide a NIN
The NIN must be verified by the NIMC
The former NCC guidelines for SIM replacement are followed
A similar process is involved for registering of new SIM Cards, it is believed that the new requirement will ensure that all citizens comply with the requirement of enrolling for the NIN.
