Cross River Cocoa Production: State Govt. Promises To Take More Youths Out of Unemployment

Cross River State Government says it will use agriculture to bring youths out of unemployment in the state, especially in the production, cultivation, and marketing of cocoa and it’s value chains .

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Cocoa Development and Control, Oscar Ofuka, gave the assurances when he was addressing youths of Bendege Akim community of Etung Local Government Area of the State to shun violence and communal clash in the year 2021.

Oscar said already, the government has raised six million improved cocoa seedlings that will produce organic cocoa explaining that the stage is set for the state to reclaim its rightful position as number one Cocoa producing state in the country.

He said Nigeria would benefit from Cross River cocoa revolution which is an ongoing project inline with the Federal Government policy of economy diversification.

Also speaking at the new year event, the Paramount Ruler of Etung Local Government Area, His Royal Highness Emmanuel Oru-Ojong, said the government cocoa revolution project has raised lazy youths to become useful cocoa farmers and have added values to the state.

Cross River State Government had during the start of Ayade’s second term promised to position the state as number one cocoa producing state and also ensure that cocoa remains the mainstay of the state’s economy.
