Dr Enema Amodu, The Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association has disclosed that 20 doctors have lost their lives within a week in the wake of the second wave of the coronavirus in Nigeria.

Although the NCDC had clarified that the newly discovered strain is different from the United Kingdom’s, Amodu maintains that the second wave is more catastrophic.

He further urged all to please follow social distancing guidelines by wearing face coverings, keeping the 6 metres distance apart and frequently washing their hands.

He also expressed the need for Personal Protective Equipments for medical professionals. Nigeria recorded 712 cases on Christmas Day, a significantly lower amount compared to days before it. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 82,747.
