Mike Sonko who was found guilty of four charges including gross misconduct, abuse of office, and violation of the constitution has not only been impeached but now removed from office.
Nairobi County Legislators accused him of using state funds to sponsor his daughter’s trip to New York which was originally meant for underprivileged children as a bursary.
This is not the first time the legislator’s integrity would be questioned as he was arrested last December for corruption, admitted to a prison break from 20 years back, and other not so pristine activities.
Nairobians will head to the polls for a by-election to nominate Mike Sonko’s replacement.
