The Kano State government says it will recall all-volunteer health workers and other frontline fighters to help curb the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, stated that with the increasing number of infections in the state, it has become necessary for the state government to recall the services of the workers to help fight the virus across the 44 local government areas of the state.

Ganduje also stated that enforcing the COVID-19 protocol has been a major challenge for the state and added that the government would engage security officers to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines.
