Following reports that 600 of 800 students went missing after bandits attacked the Government Science Secondary School in Katsina State, the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has advised the current administration to declare a state of emergency.

Although recent updates have revealed that 200 of the escaped students have returned safely, an estimated 400 are still unaccounted for.

The school principal and police are conducting a roll call to confirm the exact amount of missing schoolchildren.

The bandits reportedly stormed the school premises around 9:30 PM shooting sporadically before breaking the gate and scaling over the fence.

The area has now been reinforced with a heavy security presence.

Many have taken to the streets to protest over the incidents as parents begin to pray for the safe return of their wards.

It is fast becoming a trend for bandits to go to secondary schools to capture school students. The Chibok and Dapchi students were captured in a similar fashion
