For the 2021 fiscal year, Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has presented a ₦139.4 billion estimates to the State House of Assembly for approval.
The Governor also announced the establishment of a State Economic Council, to coordinate the state government’s economic planning.
The proposed budget of 139.4 billion Naira presented to the Taraba State House of Assembly by the Governor has a 56.5billion Naira Capital expenditure, with a recurrent of 82.9 billion.
The appropriation bill is 7 billion Naira lower than the budget of the previous year, representing a 27% decrease. Governor Ishaku said it is a reflection of the harsh economic reality being faced globally.
The Governor added that strategies have been put in place, to ensure the effective implementation of the proposed budget and the coordination of the economic programmes, part of which is the setting up of a State Economic Council.
The Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Joseph Kunini, assured the speedy passage of the appropriation bill into law.
