Robert Kyangulanyi Ssentamu has reportedly suspended his presidential campaign six weeks away from the D-day after several members of his campaign team were badly injured after he disclosed bullets were fired at his car.

In videos taken on social media, explosives were seen going off metres away from him and members of his campaign team visibly injured and dispersed by tear-gassing. He also attests that shots were fired at his vehicle, puncturing his tyres and rendering it immobile.

This particular election campaign has been especially tumultuous for the major opposition to Yoweri Museveni, the sitting president, as just a few weeks back as many as 54 individuals lost their lives in protest while Bobi Wine, Kyagulanyi’s stage name, was arrested on breaking social distancing guidelines by gathering over 200 people whilst campaigning alongside 350 others.

Kyagunlanyi is going against the sitting president, other retired generals on the platform of the National Unity Platform.
