The cost of air travel across the country has increased as the rate of inflation increased ever so recently. The cost of travel has increased by as much as 50% for some routes while others have doubled.
Complaints have flooded social media as several have shared their woes in purchasing tickets despite biting economic hardships in almost every other sector.
In their defence, airline operators have lamented over the rising costs of fuel, the increased VAT. 15% duties on spare parts, the scarcity of the dollar, and rising insecurity in the country barely coming out of the lockdown period that the COVID-19 pandemic birthed.
Experts have also predicted the rising airfares are directly linked with the high spate of insecurity in the country.
