The Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has decried the mass killings of farmers in Borno State. The former governor made the statements following the beheading of close to 43 rice farmers in the Zabarmari area of Jere Local Government in Borno State.

The former Governor advised that intelligence gathering in the North-East should be taken more seriously as it is unfortunate that despite the numerous security outfits who have intelligence gathering departments, they were all in the dark of the premeditated killings that have taken the country to ransom in recent times.

He also suggested that also there are no consequences attached for their lapses in their duties and it should not be so since they are paid to render these services.

In summary, the former presidential candidate expressed that if nothing is done promptly to improve the presence of security, we may have no Nigeria.
