Niger State Organized Labour has directed civil servants to embark on an indefinite strike from midnight of December 1.

The strike by the Organized Labour is being informed by the state government’s failure to pay the civil servants full November salary.

A statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Niger State, Yakubu Garba, and the Chairman Trade Union Congress, TUC, Yunusa Tanimu, said the state government’s proposal to cut the pay of local government workers is also not acceptable.

The statement added that arrangements for the full payment of local government workers’ October salary must be addressed.

It also said that the government should refund its civil servants the balance of their cut June salary.
