The Inspector-General of Police, Mohamed Adamu has confirmed that 82,779 Junior Police Officers have been promoted to the next level, including those directly affected by the chaos that followed the peaceful #ENDSARS protest.
A total of 56,779 seargents, 17,569 Corporals and 8,431 Constables were promoted including 86 junior officers involved with containing the ENDSARS aftermath. 16 of them posthumously.
The Inspector-General congratulated the newly promoted officers and admonished them to rededicate themselves to their professional calling in the best interests of the citizens.
He noted that the promotion albeit, posthumously, of the officers who were killed by some ENDSARS protesters is a symbolic gesture in recognition of the ultimate price they paid in the service of the nation.
The IGP promised to work with all relevant agencies, organs of Government and other stakeholders in driving a successful reform of the Police for improved welfare and conditions of service towards better service delivery to the people.
