Britain and Canada have signed a £20.32 billion trade deal to secure goods and services between the two countries after Brexit. The United Kingdom is still on course to end its transition out of the European Union by year-end, December 31 to be exact.
The two leaders, Boris Johnson and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised to start conversations next year after the Brexit had been finalized after securing the deal via an online call.
According to Liz Truss, the agreement secures 20 billion pounds in trade and also thousands of jobs.
This is all part of Boris Johnson’s plan to establish the UK as a standalone which can negotiate more robust trade deals. one of the perks of leaving the EU bloc.
For the agreement to fully swing in, the Canadian Parliament will need to approve and it will be subject to further legal checks.
