The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mele Kyari says it’s unfortunate that people see the NNPC as a representation of corruption but that the Corporation is working round the clock to change the negative perception.
The GMD made the statement Friday at a media parlay in Abuja.
Kyari admitted that the Corporation did not do well in best managing the country’s natural resources but pointed out the country moved away from waste and three million barrels per day is within sight.
The NNPC GMD also said the company maintained its account seven months without failing.
Kyari hinted that by December, Nigeria’s gas pipeline construction would have crossed the Niger Delta.
In the course of his speech, Kyari accused past leaders of always interfering in the Corporation’s affairs.
He reiterated that Nigeria is a gas country and the Siemens deal is a practical solution to the power supply as well as the fact that Nigeria cannot afford subsidy.
