A former Nigerian Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, has explained how he lost his wife, Amaka to a fatal motor accident along Ore-Igbokoda road in Ondo State.

Ndoma-Egba who spoke with reporters at about 6:53 pm on Friday in an extremely low and bereaved voice said: “I am saddened, I have lost my pillar, my friend, my adviser, sister, mother and wife. I can’t explain to you how it happened but I was just told she died in an accident.”

When asked where exactly the accident occurred in Ondo State, the former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, explained that “My Wife left Abuja yesterday to Benin on their way to Ilaje area called Igbokoda for her friend’s mother’s burial. They flew to Benin and one of their friends gave them an official vehicle that will take them to the village from Benin in Edo State.

“I spoke to her all through until there was network failure outside Benin. The next I was told was that their car had an accident in Ore-Igbokoda road and she was later confirmed dead.

“I don’t know what to do now because the losses this year were too many on me. I can’t believe my wife of many decades has passed on. I only believe that there is God and God knows and sees everything,” the former Senate Leader said.

The three-term senator (2003-2015) has between June and October this year lost his mother-in-law, his mother, personal media aide, and his residence in Calabar was attacked, destroyed and some part burnt along with many vehicles by hoodlums who highjacked the #EndSARS protest in Cross River State.

Meanwhile, the Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has commiserated with Senator Ndoma-Egba over the death of his wife, Amaka.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, Governor Ayade expresses deep sorrow over the sudden death of Mrs Ndoma- Egba.

The Governor said that Mrs. Ndoma-Egba’s demise was yet another vicissitude to befall the former Senate Leader in recent times.

The Governor, however, urged Senator Ndoma-Egba and his family to be consoled by the fact that the deceased “selflessly and fervently served God and humanity during her very salutary and impactful life on earth.”

Ayade prayed God to give Senator Ndoma-Egba the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
