United Nations reports 3600 cases of Rape during Lockdown in Nigeria

The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, UN, Amina Mohammed, has disclosed during the launch of the Violence Against Women and Girls Situation Room Spotlight Initiative that 3,600 rape cases were recorded in Nigeria during the lockdown.

In the same vein, she mentioned that the UN is in talks with the Ministry of Women Affairs to provide more data on violence against women in the country.

The Violence Against Women Initiative was organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs, the UN, and the European Union.

The platform is expected to enable decision-makers and managers analyse the data with ease.
