On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, 14 soldiers were murdered in Burkina Faso during a jihadist attack.
The surprise attack happened in the Northern part of the country near the boundary of Niger and Mali.
The ambush caused the death of at least 1,000 people and over a million people had to evacuate their homes.
In October, it was also reported that terrorists killed 24 people in a Northern town in Pissila.
Although Burkina Faso is one of the most poverty-stricken countries in the world which is the reason they have poorly equipped military service.
President Roch Kobore had promised to restore peace in the country as he intends to run for a second term, but his detractors said that he did nothing to stop the jihadist attacks during his first tenure.
As a result of the attack, over 1,000 village settlers will not be able to vote in their forthcoming presidential election which holds on November 22, 2020, and in September, the legislative body established a law that allows election results to be verified even if the election did not take place in every part of the country.
In 2019, the rebellious Jihadists killed not less than 4,000 people in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
