: ASUU SUSPENDS ABOUT 10 MONTHS OLD STRIKE

The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have been asked to finding a common ground to end the current impasse over the choice of a payment platform.

The call was made in Abuja at a briefing by the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Professor Shehu Zuru.

Professor Zuru said the eight months old strike by the lecturers has left students idle for to long and it poses grave danger for the future of the Nation’s future leaders.

He also advocated a review of some aspect of the universities curriculum to reflect current demands of the labour market, especially with the fast embrace of e-learning and working from home via internet at the out break of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Professor is also making a case for more intervention by the  federal government to facilitate more development at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources.
