Bauchi State Ministry of Health is to embark on Yellow Fever active case search and immunisation in a bid to curtail its possible spread.

This is following the recent outbreak of Yellow Fever disease in Ganjuwa Local Government where eight persons have died. The Commissioner for Health, Aliyu Maigoro, said this in Bauchi.

The outbreak was reported in a farming settlement in Jigawan Zalla in Takahina Ganjuwa Local Government of the state.

A team of Primary Health Development staff discovered the disease when they went for facilities inspection in the area. He said plans are on the way for massive vaccination across the 20 local government areas of the state.

Maigoro called for logistics from the Federal Government as the state now battles three cases of the disease. He said currently, 41 samples have been taken to Abuja for test.
