Oyo State College Students protest against high tuition

The students of Oyo State College Of Education, Lanlate, have staged a protest against the alleged outrageous fees imposed on them by the institution.

According to the President of the Student Union, Muhammed Olaitan, he revealed that the students in the institution were constantly attacked by wild animals, due to the uncut bushes surrounding the school.

In a statement on Monday, 9, 2020, Olaitan said despite the management charging ₦3,000 cumulatively, the students have not been issued any form of identification [ID CARDS] which result to them being harassed and denying scholarship opportunities.

He further stated that the students are unable to view their results online and print out course form despite paying for it every semester; “We are required to pay ₦8,000 in 100 level, and ₦3,000 at 200 and 300 levels, yet no noticeable development can be seen. The school environment is bushy and unkempt with dangerous animals attacking students during lectures.

“The Dean of Student Affairs who is expected to act as a father takes pleasure in relationships with female students and threatening to withhold students’ results.

“I urge us to remain steadfast and peaceful. Our demand remains the immediate resignation of the Provost and Dean of Student Affairs.”

However, no statement has been made by the school authority.
