Donald Trump, the U.S. President, has in the wee hours of today fired his defence secretary, Mark Esper.
The outgoing President took to his Twitter platform account as he thanked Esper for his services and further announced his replacement by the current head of the National Counterterrorism Center, Christoper Miller.
Firing of Esper comes barely a week after Donald Trump lost the Presidential Elections to Democrat, Joe Biden.
Esper and the president have previously clashed when Trump suggested using the military to stop civic unrest. Donald Trump who is currently claiming electoral fraud has until January 2021 until Biden resumes office.
