Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu ,The Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that none of the 37 orientation camp would shut down, if a call member tests positive for COVID-19.
According to him, prevention, detection and immediate response remain a critical factor in ensuring the safe reopening of camps. He announced this before the reopening of NYSC orientation camp nationwide scheduled for Tuesday. , November 10, 2020.
On Sunday, the NYSC Director (Press and Public Relations), Adenike Adeyemi, issued a statement explaining that Dr Ihekweazu announced this conditions during a webinar organised for the Batch B corp member preparing for the orientation camp.
Ihekweazu said that All prospective corps members would undergo a test to confirm the state of their health before being allowed in camp, and also regarding corp member testing positive later in camp, he assured adequate measures have been put in place to manage the situation.
No camp would be shut if a victim is discovered, rather adequate care and support will be given to prevent stigmatisation.
