The Resident Doctors at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, in Ondo State, have embarked on an indefinite strike over the Failure of the state Government to pay their four months’ salary arrears.
This is just as lawyers, under the employ of the State Government, withdrew legal services from court attendance and other sundry services over alleged poor welfare for members.
The Association of Residents Doctors in Ondo State has been on a running battle with the State Government for more than a year, over non-payment of salary arrears.
After three days of warning strike embarked upon by the doctors last week and expiration of a seven-day ultimatum, they have commenced an indefinite strike.
Led by their Acting President, Sanni Oriyomi, the Resident Doctors said the decision became imperative, because the state Government failed to address their demands.
In another development, the state chapter of the Legal Officers Association of Nigeria have withdrawn legal services from court, over inability of Government to provide them with conducive working environment and better welfare.
The lawyers also called for immediate release of funds for outfits and robe Allowance owed them since March 2020.
