Reality TV star, Kourtney Kardashian, has been dragged on social media after posting conspiracy theories, saying face masks used to prevent the spread of Covid-19 can actually cause cancer.
The 40-Year-old model and media personnel took to her Instagram to share with fans that she believes blue surgical masks which are used by medical personnel and citizens all over the globe is made of PTFE, a carcinogen made from synthetic fluoride.
The post read: “According to cancer.org, it increases the risk of liver, testicle, pancreas, kidney & breast tumors + ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, preeclampsia, and high cholesterol.
High exposure can cause influenza-like symptoms and hemorrhaging in the lungs, leading to suffocation.’ Kourtney then captioned the post with a shocked and head-blowing emoji.
On social media, users have continued to drag the star as they pointed out that she and her family went to a private tropical island to celebrate Kim’s birthday and they made all the staff wear face masks.
There is actually no proof supporting Kourtney’s claims leading to a member of the society discrediting the medical warning.
The New York Post, Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of the ACS, Dr. William Cance, confirmed that there is no evidence supporting the claim that PTFF in face masks can cause cancer and as a surgical oncologist, he and thousands of colleagues wear face masks while treating patients.
The PTFE also identified as polytetrafluoroethylene is a man-made chemical used on Teflon coatings and non-stick pots and pans.
Dr. Joshua Wolrich, UK NHS doctor also slammed Kourtney on social media as he voiced out his disappointment that Kourtney Kardashian would come and declare that face masks can cause cancer. He also described the statement as ‘utterly unacceptable’
