Seasoned Journalist Robert Fisk Dies Aged 74

Seasoned journalist, who is best known for his coverage of the middle east, Robert Fisk, has died due to an alleged stroke at the age of 74.

According to reports, he fell ill in his house on Friday and was later admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, where he died shortly afterward.

Fisk won multiple awards for his reports on the middle east which began in the year 1970.

He also became well known for his reproval of Israel, the US, and Western foreign policy, reporting wars happening in North America, Balkans, and the Middle East for newspapers in the UK for over five decades.

In 2005, the New York Times described Fisk as probably the most famous correspondent in all of Britain.

The journalist was born in 1946, in Maidstone Kent and he later gained Irish citizenship.

Michael D Higgins, the Irish President, expressed his sadness over the death of Fisk on Sunday.

He started his career by working with Sunday Express, in 1972, the journalist moved to Belfast to cover Troubles as a Northern Ireland correspondent for the New York Times.

He later became the middle east correspondent in 1976.

He resigned from the Times after a fall-out with the owner, Rupert Murdoch, and moved to the Independent where he worked for the rest of his career.
