The Kogi State Police Command has arrested 56 persons in connection with the looting of agricultural imputes and essential drugs stored in warehouses in Ganaja, Felele, and Zone 8 areas of Lokoja, the state capital.

State Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba, who paraded the suspects at the state command in Lokoja, said the arrest was a combined effort of the police and other security agencies in the state.

The operation started on Tuesday, 24 hours after the Monday incident, where suspected criminals broke into the state warehouse storing medical equipment and the Kogi State Agricultural Development Project store, under the guise of looking for COVID-19 palliatives.

One of the suspects, Pastor Sunday Edino, a clergyman with one of the new generation churches in Lokoja, denied the allegation, but could not provide convincing defense on how the stolen items made their way into his Peugeot 407 at the point of arrest.

The State Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara, commended the security agencies for their efforts.

Sixty motorcycles and 40 tricycles were among several other items recovered in connection with the looting of warehouses in Felele, Ganaja, and Zone 8 areas of Lokoja on Monday, October 26, 2020
